Plenty of new attractions at Autumn Fair
This year’s Autumn Fair at the NEC, Birmingham (5-8 September) is not only 25% larger than it was last year but will also be sporting plenty of additional features not least a signage system on exhibitors stands showing the word ‘NEW’ in a bright red starburst to flag up to buyers the over 40,000 new products that will be launched at the show.
Another new feature will be the Autumn Catwalk Café in Hall 4 where buyers can indulge in coffee and cakes and watch a stunning performance by models sporting the latest in jewellery and fashion accessories available at the show. Performances are completely free and will take place three times a day to coincide with elevenses, lunch and afternoon tea.
Hall 4 will also play host to the show’s ‘Talking Point’ seminars which cover a wide range of industry related topics and also take place three times a day at 12.00, 2.00 and 4.00pm.
See the latest cookware products in action at Cook Live!, the interactive kitchen in Hall 2, where there will be a number of practical demonstrations running throughout the day. These displays are also free and a full list will be posted soon on the show website.
Those seeking the coolest contemporary brands should go to Hall 3 for the ‘Spotlight’ selection within the Design-led Gifts area close to The Summerhouse Group.
A number of leading North American manufacturers will be appearing at Autumn Fair this year and brands include: 2 Monkey Trading, Found Image Press, Viva Beads, Eye Think and Laughing Elephant.
Visit The GA and see The Gifts of the Year
The GA team will be on hand throughout the show and will look forward to welcoming members to stand A26 where they will also find a display of the all the winning and highly commended products in the 2010 Gift of the Year competition.
As usual the team will be joined by a number of The Association’s service providers including the solicitors who provide advice for ‘Copywatch’ The GA’s Intellectual Property Service, Richard Bailey from GA Legal Helpline law firm Steeles and insurance brokers T H March amongst others.

‘Two for One’ drinks at Home & Gift
The GA and show organisers Clarion have organised a get together for members and their guests in the bar area of the Cairn Hotel on Monday 19 July during Home & Gift in Harrogate (18 – 21 July).
This ‘no host’ event is an ideal opportunity for Association members to meet The GA team and the National Committee as well as providing the chance to get together with other members. If this alone is not sufficient temptation to attend, the good news is that The Cairn Hotel will be offering ‘Two for One’ prices on glasses of beer and wine from 5.00 to 7.00pm.
“We hope that as many people as possible, both retailers and suppliers, will join us for what promises to be not only fun, but also a prime networking opportunity,” says GA, chief executive Isabel Martinson.
The GA will, as usual, be having its own stand at Home & Gift (Hall A Stand 26) and Isabel and the team will also look forward to seeing members there. In addition Isabel will be offering one-on-one clinics to anyone wishing to discuss particular retailing problems. To make an appointment please visit the stand or email Isabel prior to the show on Isabel.martinson@ga-org.uk
New look for Giving and Living
Giving & Living (formerly Torquay Fair) which moved to Exeter in January 2010 after 45 years in Torquay, has a new image to go with its new venue.
The logo designed for organiser’s Hale Events by the design consultancy Shift Thinking, gives a fresh new identity to the show which is Intended to help communicate the diverse ranges which will be displayed at Westpoint, Exeter from the 16 – 19 January 2011.
As well as the core ranges of Gifts and Home products from around 500 exhibitors, buyers to next year’s show can also expect to see, what show organiser Mike Andersen describes as, “the best ranges of Coastal and Tourism products anywhere in the UK”.
Giving & Living is also on target to host at least 100 British designer makers as part of the sector: “Designed and made in Britain”. And, the popular “Naturally” trail of products with the least negative effect the environment will guide buyers to like-minded suppliers.
GA supplier members are reminded that they receive a discount on stand space at this show.
