Video links brings Away Day to all
Members who missed this year’s ‘Away Day’ can now experience it for themselves firsthand by viewing the edited highlights online. Simply visit The GA website (click here), or our page on Facebook (click here), to enjoy a real flavour of the day and to benefit from the highly informative talks given by our panel of expert speakers.
Here you will find words of wisdom from the former world boxing champion Chris Eubank, now a motivational speaker, who, as our key note presenter, delighted the audience on the day with a combination of old-world charm, poetry and philosophy – and didn’t miss the opportunity to shadow box and demonstrate a few of the punches that had taken him to the top.
If you are interested in today’s online environment then our second speaker, Iain Nicol, Commercial Director – Digital (Exhibitions) for Emap, is a ‘must hear’ for his fascinating insight on how this is changing the gift and home industry and what Emap as an exhibitions’ organiser is doing to assist its customers in this respect. As Iain points out in his talk, there has been a 380% increase in the number of people using the Internet since 2009 alone; so it is a topic which cannot be ignored.
There is also the chance to catch up on the emerging themes and fashions for the home with a talk by Catriona Macnab, of style and trends forecaster WGSN, and the opportunity to discover just what your Association has been doing for the past year with a report from the outgoing chairman, Mike Burgess, managing director of Parlane International.
“We are delighted to be able to share the fount of useful information which the Away Day provided with the widest possible audience,” says The Association’s CE, Isabel Martinson. “The clips give a real taste of what went on and I do hope that being able to enjoy the talks and to get a flavour of the great networking opportunity the day provided in this way, will encourage those members who were unable to join us this year to do so in 2011. As the video so ably demonstrates, it really is a worthwhile trip.”
